Bathymetry Mapping in Wetlands

David Heimann, Hydrologist, Project Chief

Multiple transects were surveyed across several wetlands to collect elevation data that will be used to create bathymetric contours. GIS is used to manage the elevation data and convert that data in to a triangular irregular network (TIN) (96K) so that contours of the wetland bottom could be created. The TIN will also be used to calculate the depth of water/surface area/volume relationship. This information will help wetland managers make informed decisions.
