Students from Southwest Missouri State University (SMSU) mapped and described sinkholes (33603 bytes) ranging in size from a few feet in diameter to thousands of feet in diameter for the twenty 7.5' quadrangle maps that cover Greene County, Missouri. These mapped sinkholes were digitized and compiled into a county wide map by the USGS. Cave locations and dye traces were digitized. Soils data (34470 bytes) (1:24000 scale), originally produced by the Natural Resource Conservation Service, was scanned by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and provided to the USGS for attribution and incorporation into the data base. Dr. Ken Thompson of SMSU provided geologic maps (26877 bytes) of the 20 quadrangles that were digitized by the USGS. Photolineament data was compiled and digitized. Base map layers of transportation, hydrography, topography (27688 bytes), boundaries, manmade structures, and public land survey system information were digitized by the National Mapping Division of the USGS.
A report was prepared with a description of the database and how it was created and illustrations that depict the various information contained in the database.
