Uses of GIS in Geologic Mapping of Weldon Spring Site

Douglas N. Mugel, Hydrologist, Project Chief
Greg Easson, Hydrologist — Student trainee

GIS is used to manage the massive number of well logs that are being used to create various structural, isopac and top of formation maps for the Weldon Spring (317283 bytes) site. Data includes the well log information (including depth, screened interval, formations penetrated, elevation of well top, and construction data), topography, hydrography, roads and buildings of the site.

A report is being prepared with illustrations (27038 bytes) that depict the geologic information contained in the database.
