Description of Gaging Station on -- Jones Branch near Springfield, MO 07050680

LOCATION.--Lat 37o11'12", long 93o12'04", Greene County, Hydrologic Unit 11010002

Gage may be reached by driving from junction of Highway 65 and State Route D (Sunshine), east 1.7 miles on State Route D to Royal, go north 0.2 mile to Farm Road 144, west 0.7 mile to Leaning Tree Lane, then south 0.1 mile to bridge and concrete weir. Gage is located 150 ft. northeast of bridge across the pond.

ESTABLISHMENT.--Established as a U.S. Geological Survey gaging station July 22,1999.

DRAINAGE AREA.--1.29 mi2.

GAGE.--Design Analysis pressure sensor and ESC-80 data logger in a 20"x30"x54" metal shelter. Orifice elevation _____ft.

REFERENCE AND BENCH MARKS.--

R.M. 1 is a chiseled square in the right upstream wingwall of dam. Gage height 4.47 ft.

R.M. 2 is chiseled square in right upstream curb of bridge. Elevation 5.08 ft. gage height.

R.M. 3 is chiseled square in right downstream curb of bridge. Elevation 5.04 ft. gage height.

CHANNEL AND CONTROL.--Concrete dam at outlet of lake.

DISCHARGE MEASUREMENTS.--Wading measurements in vicinity of gage. High flow measurements made from bridge.

POINT OF ZERO FLOW.--0.98 ft.

ACCURACY.--Fair to poor.

COOPERATION.--Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
